Mariners Injury Update: James Paxton rehab results

By on 7/18/2014 10:30:00 AM

The Seattle Mariners are headed in the right direction. They begin the second half of the season with a record of 51-44. They have been guided by a strong pitching staff with a 3.16 overall ERA which will be key for the Mariners to obtain a wild card spot because the offense has been sub-par this season. One pitcher who would improve the wild card chances is James Paxton. He made his first rehab start on Thursday after struggling with injury for most the season. He pitched 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits while walking one and striking out two batters. The lefty made the rehab start for Short-A Everett as reported by Bob Dutton.

As reported by our own Kerry Kauffman, If Paxton does not have any more issues that would cause a set back, he will end up progressing to Triple-A Tacoma to finish his rehab and will then be able to return to the team soon.

Paxton is 2-0 with 2.25 ERA this season. He has made two starts this season. Paxton has six career starts and is 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA. He has pitched in 36 innings and has only given up 21 hits and nine walks while striking out 34 batters.
