Padres Injury Update: Tommy Medica exits with groin tightness

By on 7/11/2014 09:45:00 AM

San Diego Padres first baseman Tommy Medica came out of Thursday night's game after experiencing groin tightness. MLB.com's Corey Brock tweeted the update during the game:
Brock reports that Medica left after just one at-bat, grounding out in the top of the second before he was replaced by Rene Rivera in the bottom of the inning. Manager Bud Black did not tell Brock anything other than that Medica was 'sore' and said the team would know more on Friday.

Medica missed most of what was a tough night for the Padres as Clayton Kershaw carried the Dodgers to a 2-1 victory with a complete game effort, striking out 11 and giving up just one run, a Chase Headley homer. The Padres offense has improved a little of late after their dismal June showing, when they had a .171 batting average, .237 OBP and .224 wOBA, but they still rank dead last in the majors by just about every offensive measure.
