Padres Injury Update: Yonder Alonso, Jedd Gyorko, Nick Vincent

The San Diego Padres enter the All-Star break losing back-to-back 1-0 decisions to the Los Angeles Dodgers. At 41-54, the Padres are in last place in the National League West. The Padres are 30th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Hoping to get some help after the break, there is good news on the injury front with regards to Yonder Alonso, Jedd Gyorko and Nick Vincent.

As reported by Corey Brock of, first baseman Yonder Alonso and Jedd Gyorko will workout with Class A Lake Elsinore and should begin rehab assignments soon. Gyorko has been on the disabled list with plantar fasciitis, while Alonso has been out with tendonitis in the right wrist.

Alonso is batting .210 with five home runs and 22 RBI this season, while Gyorko has struggled to a .162 average with five home runs, 24 RBI and 56 strikeouts in 204 at bats.

Vincent, a right-handed reliever, has been on the disabled list with right shoulder fatigue. He is due to begin a Minor League rehab assignment with Lake Elsinore.

Vincent had appeared in 30 games this season and has the worst ERA on the staff at 5.67. In 27 innings, he's allowed 22 hits and five home runs. He's walked only six and struck out 32.  Vincent , in his third Major League season, has a career record of 8-5 with a 2.98 ERA in 102 games.
