Phillies Injury Update: Domonic Brown scratched due to illness

By on 7/12/2014 06:45:00 PM

The Philadelphia Phillies enter tonight's game against the Washington Nationals having won their last five games. Although still in last place at 42-51, the Phillies are just eight games back in a rather weak National League East. Cole Hamels faces Stephen Strasburg tonight, in what should be a pitchers duel. The Phillies will be without left fielder Domonic Brown, who was 1-for-3 with two RBI in last night's 6-2 win for the Phillies.

Kevin Cooney of the Buck County Courier Times reported that Brown would be out with an illness and is listed as day-to-day. There is no word as to what Brown's illness is.

Robert Murray of also tweeted the following on Brown's status.
With Brown out, Grady Sizemore will start in left field and lead off. Ben Revere will be back in the lineup in center field and bat eighth.

Brown, in his fifth Major League season, is batting only .225 this season with six home runs and 46 RBI. He had his best season of his career last year, when he batted .272 with 27 home runs and 83 RBI.  Brown's a career .248 hitter with 45 home runs and 187 RBI.
