Phillies Injury Update: Mario Hollands exits with bruised knee

By on 7/03/2014 09:30:00 AM

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to slide in the National League East following a 5-0 loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. It was the sixth consecutive loss for the Phillies, who are now at 36-48, ten and a half games behind the Atlanta Braves. Relief pitcher Mario Hollands left the game in the eighth inning with a bruised knee. There is currently no word as to how much time he'll miss.

Todd Zolecki, who covers the Phillies for, confirmed the injury with this tweet.
Hollands suffered the injury when a ball hit by Marcell Ozuna came back to the mound, bounced off Hollands' knee and caromed over to third base. Hollands remained in the game at that point, but following a Jarrod Saltalamacchia home run and a Jeff Baker double, was removed from the game in favor of Antonio Bastardo.

Hollands, in his first Major League season, has been a bright spot out of the bullpen. In 33 games, Hollands is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA. In 30 innings, he's allowed 26 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 23.
