Raiders Injury Update: Rod Streater out with concussion

By on 7/29/2014 11:45:00 AM

The Oakland Raiders have gotten nice production from wide receiver Rod Streater since bringing him in as an undrafted rookie in 2012, as he's had 99 receptions for 1.472 yards and seven touchdowns over the last two seasons. He led the team in receptions (60) and yards (888) last season, along with four touchdowns, and Streater is in line for a big role this season even after the additions of James Jones and Greg Little this offseason. But Streater suffered a concussion during training camp practice on Sunday, and is considered day-to-day after sitting out on Monday.

Streater suffered a concussion last preseason as well, but he did not miss much practice time and did not seem to be be affected by it at all afterwards. But it's still worth noting, given the tricky nature of concussions and Streater will have to pass through the league's concussion protocol before taking the field again.

At this early stage the Raiders are sure to take extra caution with Streater, and while he is out others may get an opportunity to make a case for a roster spot. Andre Holmes is all but certain to make the 53-man roster after a strong finish last season, but Little, Brice Butler and undrafted rookie Mike Davis could all see more practice reps and action in preseason games if Streater is out for an extended period of time.
