Ravens Injury Update: Terrence Cody placed on physically unable to perform list

Defensive tackle Terrence Cody has largely been a disappointment over his first four NFL seasons, with just 40 tackles over the last two seasons and zero career sacks, but the Baltimore Ravens gave him another chance by bringing him back on a one-year deal in April. Cody missed organized team activities and minicamp as he recovered from hip surgery for the second straight offseason, and the Ravens placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list last Friday.

The Ravens took Cody with the 57th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, but he has missed time in all but one of his four seasons and outside of the 16 games he started in 2011 he has only started six other games in his career. For what it's worth Cody suggested his hip has bothered him over the last three seasons, and he hopes better health will allow him to contribute more.

At this point Cody is not guaranteed a roster spot, so he'll have to get medically cleared soon and be a full participant in as much of training camp as possible to improve his chances. He can be activated from the PUP list at any time, and I would be surprised if Cody is not on the field for the Ravens' preseason opener.
