Rays Injury Update: Ryan Hanigan, Desmond Jennings

By on 7/14/2014 10:30:00 AM

When the Tampa Bay Rays return to the field on Friday, two of their starters will be returning to the lineup as well.  Matt Baker of The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that both Desmond Jennings and Ryan Hanigan are expected to return from their recent injuries.
Baker reported that Jennings was injured by fouling a ball off of his knee on Friday and Hanigan was scratched after pain in his left side.

By having both of these players returning, the Rays will be putting two important players from the middle of the field back in their lineup.

The 27-year-old Jennings,  who was once viewed as a top prospect in baseball, is still in the midst of finding himself at the plate.  He is a career .249 hitter who is batting .246 with eight home runs through his first 90 games this season.

Hanigan, who is in the first year of a three year contract with the Rays, has become the main backstop in the organization.  He holds a .212 average with four home runs and 28 RBIs through his first 60 games.
