Reds Injury Update: Jack Hannahan activated

By on 7/28/2014 12:15:00 PM

The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Washington Nationals on Sunday by the score of 4-2. The loss dropped the Reds to 52-52, six games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. The Reds scored their only two runs on a double in the ninth inning by catcher Devin Mesoraco. On the injury front, Jack Hannahan was in the lineup for the first time all season, batting sixth. He went 0-for-4 in the game with two strikeouts.

I reported on July 14 that Hannahan was continuing to recover from a shoulder surgery last October. At the time, he had appeared in three rehab games at Class A Dayton and was 3-for-9 with a double and RBI.

According to MLBRosterMoves Twitter account,
Hannahan has played for the Tigers, A's, Mariners, Indians and Reds during his seven-year Major League career. He batted .216 with a home run and 14 RBI last season. Hannahan is a career .232 hitter with 29 home runs and 173 RBI.
