Rockies Injury Update: Troy Tulowitzki to DL

By on 7/22/2014 08:00:00 PM

Colorado Rockies MVP candidate Troy Tulowitzki has been placed on 15-day disabled list with a hip strain. He left the game holding his hip after running out a ground ball a few days back as reported by Mike Axisa from Yohan Flande was recalled to take his place on the roster and will make the start for the Rockies on Tuesday.

Tulowitzki is no stranger to the disabled list. He played in only 690 of 972 possible games from 2008-2013 due to wrist, groin, thumb and quad injuries, just to name a few.

Tulowitzki has played in 91 games this year. He leads the National League in batting average (.340), on-base percentage (.432), and slugging percentage (.603). He has also hit 21 home runs and leads all of baseball with 71 runs scored. This injury will mess with his MVP chances, but it is still a possibility.

The Rockies are in last place in the National League West at 40-59. They started out hot, but the story has not been the same since.

Besides the injury to Tulowitzki, many other Rockies are injured, including Justin Morneau (neck) and Michael Cuddyer (shoulder) as well.
