Seahawks Injury News: Sidney Rice retires

By on 7/23/2014 04:17:00 PM

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice is retiring from the NFL at just 27 years old, ProFootballTalk reported.

Rice missed eight games last season after tearing his ACL, causing the team to release him after the season ended. He rejoined Seattle in April of this season.

Rice suffered multiple concussions throughout his NFL career. In 2010, the then-23-year-old missed the team's final regular season game after sustaining a head injury against the Eagles.

Less than a year later, now in Seattle, a second concussion placed him on injured reserve and ended his season.

Since a breakout season in 2009 with the Vikings in which Rice hauled in over 1,300 yards, he appeared in all 16 games just one time.

Rice leaves the NFL after tallying 243 catches for almost 3,600 yards and 30 touchdowns in seven season.
