Stars Injury Update: Rich Peverley is unsure about future but wants to return to the NHL

By on 7/16/2014 06:00:00 PM

According to Ryan Dadoun of NBC Sports, Dallas Stars center Rich Peverley hopes to return to the NHL but is moving forward with caution. Peverley collapsed on the bench during a game against Columbus on March 10 due to cardiac complications. Peverley underwent surgery to repair the damage and has since been recovering.

Peverley has been going through the rehabilitation process, cautiously but optimistically, for the last four months. Although he has been comfortable with the process, he is hesitant in making statements regarding his return to his career. He says that his return will be dependent upon "the right circumstances".

He is still being prescribed medications which help regulate his heartbeat. Peverley has stated that the next step is to reduce the medication and monitor his heartbeat after exercise. If he remains relatively asymptomatic after exercise, he will then proceed to a series of steps before his clearance to return.

Peverley contributed seven goals and 23 assists in his reduced 62 game season and averaged around 15 minutes ice-time per game.
