Texans Injury Update: Cody White tears Achilles

By on 7/29/2014 08:30:00 AM

Texans backup guard Cody White tore his Achilles on Saturday, according to the Houston Chronicle. The third-year pro signed with Houston in 2012 as a free agent, and has spent most of his time backing up right guard Brandon Brooks. He has only appeared in one game.

This injury should be fairly concerning to the Texans, as they are already missing two contributors along the offensive line (David Queensberry and Brandon Brooks are absent from training camp).

The loss of White opens up the door for the Texans rookie Xavier Su'a-Filo, who was viewed by many as the best offensive guard in the draft. Su'a-Filo has the potential to not only play consistently, but be a day-one starter.

Injuries to backups may not seem like a devastating blow to football teams, but depth along the offensive line can make or break a club.
