Twins Injury Update: Danny Santana plays seven innings at shortstop

By on 7/17/2014 09:45:00 AM

In his second rehab appearance, Twins injured rookie Danny Santana went 0-4 with a strikeout for the Fort Meyers Miracle while playing seven innings at shortstop.  According to Mike Berardino, the Twins beat writer for The Pioneer Press, Santana has struggled in his plate appearances, hitting just one ball out of the infield.
Recovering from a bone bruise on his knee that put him on the disabled list on June 26th, it should not take much longer until he is ready to return to the Twins everyday lineup.

Even with his slow start to his rehab,  Santana's return upcoming return is great news for the Twins.  In his 36 games played as a rookie this season in Minnesota, Santana has 12 extra-base hits, including two home runs and a .328 batting average.  He has also added six steals and scored 19 runs.  Playing at both shortstop and centerfield, he provides a solid option atop the Twins lineup.
