Warriors Injury Update: Festus Ezeli will miss Summer League due to shin inflammation

By on 7/09/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Golden State Warriors enjoyed a successful 2013-2014 season in which they won 51 games and finished second in the Pacific Division. Although the Warriors lost in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs after advancing to the second round in 2012-2013, the future should be bright. The Warriors have six players on their roster that are 24 years old or under. Combine that with free agents and draft picks and should make for good competition in the Summer League. One players the Warriors will be without is Festus Ezeli, who is out with shin inflammation.

As reported by Diamond Leung of Inside The Warriors at, Ezeli will most likely miss the entire Summer League with shin inflammation. The Warriors announced this on the eve of its first workout in Las Vegas.

The injury is a blow to Ezeli, who missed all last season recovering from knee surgery.  The Warriors believe the injury is nothing serious, but would rather err on the side of caution and sit him out for as long as possible.

Ezeli was the Warriors first round draft pick in 2012. He averaged 2.4 points and four rebounds in 78 games as a rookie.  He had just been cleared last month for five-on-five and had been impressive while playing in pickup games.  His return would provide added depth up front behind David Lee, Jermaine O'Neal and Andrew Bogut.
