White Sox Injury Update: Matt Lindstrom hopes to return in early August

By on 7/12/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Chicago White Sox entered a weekend series against the Cleveland Indians coming off a 4-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Ronald Belisario, who has been closing games in the absence of Matt Lindstrom, lost the game in the 10th inning. Belisario has struggled to a 3-6 record and a 5.16 ERA. The White Sox are 25th in the Major Leagues in ERA. The good news is that Lindstrom, who has been out since late May, is progressing and could return by early August.

I reported on July 8 that Lindstrom, who had surgery on his left ankle May 21, was progressing but not ready to face live batters. The timetable for his return was late August.

But now, Lindstrom has been progressing and Daryl Van Schouwen, who covers the White Sox for the Chicago Sun-Times, tweeted the following update on Lindstrom.
Lindstrom has pitched for the Marlins, Astros, Rockies, Orioles, Diamondbacks and White Sox during his eight-year career. In 19 games this season, Lindstrom is 2-1, with six saves and a 3.22 ERA. In 453 career games, Lindstrom is 17-20 with a 3.55 ERA.
