49ers Injury Update: Glenn Dorsey has torn biceps

By on 8/03/2014 09:35:00 AM

The San Francisco 49ers lost starting nose tackle Glenn Dorsey may be lost for the year. Cam Inman with The San Jose Mercury News is reporting Dorsey has torn his left biceps muscle and may have to undergo surgery.

Dorsey took over as the starter in week 3 last year when Ian Williams went down with a season-ending ankle injury. He was hurt in a Week 2 loss at Seattle.

Williams is still recovering from that injury. He has undergone multiple surgeries and is currently on the physically unable to perform list. Mike Williams, who was signed as an undrafted free agent last year, could help fill the void left by Dorsey.

Dorsey's injury is the latest in a string of serious injuries at 49ers training camp. Running backs LaMichael James and Kendall Hunter were hurt last week. Hunter tore his ACL, while James will be out for the next 4-6 weeks with a dislocated elbow.

San Francisco will play its preseason opener Thursday at Baltimore.
