Angels Injury Update: Grant Green activated

By on 8/31/2014 07:00:00 PM

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Oakland A's on Sunday by the score of 8-1. The win improved the Angels to 83-53, five games ahead of the A's in the American League West. Mike Trout hit his 31st home run of the season and Chris Iannetta added his seventh in the winning effort. On the injury front, infielder Grant Green has been activated from the disabled list a day earlier than expected.

Our own Darius Austin previously reported on August 21 that Green, who was recovering from a lumbar strain, was expected to head out on a rehab assignment in the next couple of days.

Kevin Baxter, sportswriter for the Los Angeles Times, tweeted the following update on Green's status.
Green, in his second Major League season, is batting .313 with a home run and nine RBI in 80 at bats. Last season he played in five games with the Oakland A's and 40 for the Angels, hitting .250 with a home run and 17 RBI.
