Angels Injury Update: Mike Morin to return next Saturday

By on 8/09/2014 03:15:00 PM

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim reliever Mike Morin is expected to be activated from the 15-day disabled list next Saturday, reports Matthew DeFranks of

Morin lacerated his foot while walking on a beach in Florida on August 4, requiring four stiches. The bizarre injury doesn’t appear to be serious, as Morin will be activated on the first day he is eligible to return.

The 23-year-old has been one of the few consistent pieces in the Los Angeles bullpen since debuting in late April. Morin has a 2.36 ERA (2.95 FIP) and a strikeout rate of 23.7 percent in 42 games this season.

Rookie reliever Cam Bedrosian is the most likely candidate to be sent down when Morin returns, as he has only appeared in nine games this year.

The Angels bullpen has poor numbers for the season, but has had a huge amount of turnover since the beginning of the year. Most notably, Houston Street has locked down the closer’s role since being acquired from the San Diego Padres in mid-July.
