Astros Injury Update: Marwin Gonzalez scratched Saturday

By on 8/31/2014 08:30:00 AM

The Houston Astros earned their 58th win of the season last night with a 2-0 shutout of the Texas Rangers on Saturday night. The Astros managed just four hits and scored both of their runs in the seventh inning. But that was more than enough for Scott Feldman, who pitched a three-hit shutout for his eighth win of the season. The Astros were without shortstop Marwin Gonzalez due to injury.

Evan Drellich, who covers the Astros for the Houston Chronicle, tweeted the following on Gonzalez.
Gregorio Petit, who is hitting .275 with a home run and RBI, started for Gonzalez and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. There is no word as to how much time Gonzalez will miss. Expect Petit to start again today if Gonzalez cannot play.

Gonzalez, in his third Major League season, is batting .272 with six home runs and 22 RBI this season. He hit .221 with four home runs and 14 RBI last season and is a career .244 hitter with 12 home runs and 48 RBI.
