Athletics Injury Update: Coco Crisp still unavailable

By on 8/03/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Oakland A's defeated the Kansas City Royals on Saturday by the score of 8-3. The win improved the A's to 67-42, first place in the American League West. Jonny Gomes lead the A's attack, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jon Lester go the win in his first start with the A's, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings. The A's were without Coco Crisp, who has missed the last six games due to chronic neck problems.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported on July 30 that Crisp's MRI showed no change to the degeneration in his neck that has plagued him for most of the season.

Susan Slusser, who covers the A's for the San Francisco Chronicle, tweeted the following update on Crisp.
Sam Fuld, who started for Crisp on Saturday, should continue to get the bulk of the action in center field in Crisp's absence.

Crisp, in his 13th season, is batting .274 with seven home runs and 32 RBI this season. The veteran has pitched for the Indians, Red Sox, Royals and A's and has a batting average of  .272 with 115 home runs, 563 RBI and 294 stolen bases.
