Athletics Injury Update: Jed Lowrie to play with fractured finger

By on 8/13/2014 10:00:00 AM

The Oakland A's hammered the Kansas City Royals last night by the score of 11-3. The win improved the A's to 73-46, first in the American League West. Josh Donaldson homered twice and Brandon Moss had four hits to lead a 20-hit attack. The A's played without Jed Lowrie, who has missed four of the last eight games with a finger injury. It appears that Lowrie plans to play through, what has now been determined is a fracture to his finger.

Our own Keri Carbaugh reported on August 8 that Lowrie, who had bruised his finger on a ground ball in the fourth inning during a game on August 4, was still out of the lineup.

Susan Slusser, who covers the A's for the San Francisco Chronicle, tweeted the following update on Lowrie.
Lowrie, in his seventh Major League season, is batting .238 with five home runs and 42 RBI.  The infielder has played for the Red Sox, Astros and A's and is a career .259 hitter with 55 home runs and 276 RBI.
