Bengals Injury Update: AJ McCarron placed on short-term IR

By on 8/31/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals placed AJ McCarron on short term IR yesterday, with the hopes that he would be able to make it back this season.

Of course, it doesn't seem like he will be injured for a long time. He's had shoulder soreness since the offseason. It has yet to go away completely, so the Bengals will be cautious with him.

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com reports that McCarron was throwing about 55-65 yards earlier this month, so he seems to be progressing.

There isn't any reason for McCarron to rush his healing, though. The Bengals don't need him this year. His job is to learn the playbook and be a student of the game.

He's always seemed like a smart football player, so I'm sure he understands the process he's going through. Who knows, if the Bengals miraculously clinch a one seed by week 17, maybe he'll see some snaps. Until then, take it easy, AJ.
