Bengals Injury Update: Marvin Jones out at least 2 months with foot injury

By on 8/12/2014 06:30:00 PM

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones broke a bone in his foot and will miss upwards of two months, reporter Geoff Hobson reported on Twitter.

The injury was discovered to specifically be a broken fifth metatarsal, which is likely to keep Jones off the gridiron for the Bengals until after the team's week four bye.
That would seem to be a tad longer than what head coach Marvin Lewis initially told reporters. Lewis said Jones would be out "a few weeks" but reports say Jones had a pin placed into his foot, which could elongate his absence.

Jones had a breakout 2013 season with the Bengals. The second-year pro hauled in 71 catches for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns, including an October performance that saw him haul in eight catches for 122 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Jones is likely to be replaced on the depth chart by Mohamed Sanu, who suffered a similar injury with five weeks to go in the 2013 season and was forced to sit out the remainder of the year.
