Bills Injury Update: Sammy Watkins is out indefinitely

By on 8/19/2014 09:00:00 PM

The Buffalo Bills had a scare on Saturday when rookie wide receiver, Sammy Watkins left the game between the Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers early with an apparent rib injury.

Bills tweeted a quote from Head Coach Doug Marrone on Monday:
Steelers' linebacker, Ryan Shazier jumped to avoid teammate Cortez Allen and when he did his knee collided with Watkins' rib cage.

Watkins was the fourth pick in the 2014 draft. With this news it is uncertain how this will affect his ability to catch the football. The Bills will want to make absolute sure Watkins is 100 percent healthy before returning.

Watkins has three catches for 21 yards in three preseason games in 2014. Last year at Clemson University Watkins had 101 catches for 1464 yards which was good for first in the ACC and fifth in the NCAA. Now that Watkins is going to be fighting an injury, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to this slight set back.
