Bills Injury Update: Sammy Watkins reinjures ribs

By on 8/29/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Buffalo Bills may be in trouble, but they have nobody to blame but themselves. They put their first round draft pick, Sammy Watkins, in to play the last preseason game last night and he got hurt. It should be stated that he had a rib injury in last week's preseason game, so putting him in last night did not make sense.

According Joe Buscaglia of, Watkins was elbowed in the midsection, and then he tried to stay on the field but couldn't. He walked off slowly and then left the game with the trainers.

The injury to Watkins is a worst case scenario for the Bills. They risked him injuring his ribs when it was obvious he should have just sat out. It's known that the rib area is sensitive, and they didn't give Watkins enough time for it to fully heal.

Now, it's possible that Watkins could be in jeopardy for week one, although E.J. Manuel said "he'll be fine."

The Bills offense has been anemic the whole preseason, so if they lose Watkins for any extended period time, it would definitely hurt them. It looks like it's going to be a tough season in Buffalo.

Coach Doug Marrone and his staff and General Manager Doug Whaley should be on the hot seat already. To the fans in Buffalo: Look out, you're in for a bumpy ride this season.
