By on 8/08/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Toronto Blue Jays entered Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles with a 61-54 record, four games behind the Orioles in the American League East. The Blue Jays have had a productive offense all season, ranked fourth in the league in runs scored. They will have to continue to produce to stay with the Orioles in the division. Two players that should help are Adam Lind and Edwin Encarnacion, both recovering from injury. Lind has started a rehab assignment, while Encarnacion should only be a few days behind.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported on August 3 that Encarnacion suffered a setback last week while trying to return from a quad strain which placed him on the disabled list on July 6.

Evan Petzold reported the Lind was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday. That was confirmed, according to Barry Davis, who covers the Blue Jays for,
Lind is batting .320 with four home runs and 27 RBI in 178 at bats. Lind is a career .272 hitter with 144 home runs and 506 RBI. Encarnacion is batting .277 with 26 home runs and 70 RBI this season. He's a career .266 hitter with 221 home runs and 676 RBI.
