Blue Jays Injury Update: Adam Lind scratched from rehab game with back problem

By on 8/08/2014 03:15:00 PM

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Adam Lind has been scratched from a rehab appearance with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays with a back injury, reports Barry Davis of

Lind has been out since July 8 with a non-displaced fracture in his right foot. The Blue Jays don’t expect the back problem to be a major setback and are still hoping to activate Lind before a critical three-game series with the Seattle Mariners on Monday.

The 31-year-old had been an important part of Toronto’s offense, splitting time between first base and designated hitter. Lind has hit .320/.389/.489 in 61 games this season.

Toronto is desperately waiting for the return of Lind and Edwin Encarnacion and also recently lost Brett Lawrie for a few weeks with an oblique problem. The Blue Jays have lost their lead in the race for the second American League Wild Card and currently trail the Kansas City Royals by half a game.
