By on 8/01/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Houston Astros on Thursday by the score of 6-5. The win improved the Blue Jays record to 60-50, second in the American League East. The offense which is third in the Major Leagues in runs scored, overcame a shaky outing by starter Drew Hutchison, who allowed four runs on six hits in three innings. The Blue Jays were without Dan Johnson due to a left hamstring strain.

Gregor Chisholm, who covers the Blue Jays for, tweeted the following on Johnson's status.
With Johnson out, expect Juan Francisco to see the bulk of the playing time at first base. Francisco is batting .242 with 16 home runs and 42 RBI in 236 at bats this season.

Johnson, in his ninth Major League season, is batting .235 with a home run and seven RBI in 34 at bats this season.  The veteran first baseman has played for the A's, Rays, White Sox, Orioles and Blue Jays. His best season was in 2007 when he had 18 home runs and 62 RBI for the A's. Johnson has a career batting average of .236 with 57 home runs and 201 RBI.
