By on 8/08/2014 06:30:00 AM

Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera left Thursday’s game against the Orioles after being hit by a pitch by Miguel Gonzalez in the first inning. He is considered day to day, according to Gregor Chisholm of

X-rays came back negative and Cabrera is expected to be back in the lineup soon , but we won’t know until Friday. Cabrera did try to stay in the game, but was lifted for a pinch hitter, Nolan Reimold in the third inning. To see the video, click here.

"It got him pretty good, he's got a nice welt and seam marks on his arm," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said to Chisholm. "It locked up on him when he was trying to hit underneath the stands. He's wasn't able to give us a good effort, but I don't think it's a big deal."

This season, Cabrera has a line of .315/.367/.480 with 14 home runs, 59 RBI, 37 walks, 55 strikeouts, and an .846 OPS in 115 games. He has 5 stolen bases and a WAR of 2.3. It is his free agent season, so a good year will certainly be a big help in the winter.

In 2013, Cabrera had a troubled season as he was out for over 60 games with injuries. He had a slash of .279/.322/.360 with 3 home runs, 30 RBI, 23 walks, 47 strikeouts, and a .682 OPS in 88 games. He had a -0.1 WAR.
