Our own Nathaniel Reeves reported on August 9 that Simmons was removed from Atlanta’s game on Tuesday after hurting his ankle while covering third base. The Braves were hoping that Simmons could avoid a trip to the disabled list.
David O'Brien, who covers the Braves for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, tweeted the following update on Simmons.
#Braves Fredi G said Andrelton doing lot better, hoping he can play TuesdaySimmons, in his third Major League season, is batting .249 with five home runs and 36 RBI in 107 games. Last season, he had a batting average of .248 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI. Simmons is a career .254 hitter with 25 home runs and 114 RBI.
