The Atlanta Braves fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday by the score of 2-1. The loss dropped the Braves to 58-51, a game and a half behind the Nationals in the National League East. An offense which has struggled all season, managed nine hits off Clayton Kershaw, but only a run and struck out nine times. The Braves were without Jason Heyward for the third straight game due to back soreness. The good news is taht he is looking to return on Saturday.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported yesterday that Heyward,  left Monday afternoon's game with the Padres with back soreness, was out of the lineup the entire series against the Dodgers.

Mark Bowman, who covers the Braves for, tweeted the following update on Heyward.
Ryan Doumit and Jordan Schafer have seen action in right field with Heyward sidelined. Doumit is batting .205 with three home runs and 14 RBI this season, while Schafer is batting .163 in 80 at bats with 15 stolen bases.

Heyward, in his fifth Major League season, is batting .260 with nine home runs and 42 RBI this season.  In 635 career games, Heyward has a batting average of .260 with 82 home runs and 276 RBI.
