Braves Injury Update: Shae Simmons shut down with more shoulder discomfort

By on 8/22/2014 11:45:00 AM

The planned Wednesday rehab start for righty reliever Shae Simmons, on the DL since July 27 with a strained right shoulder, has been postponed, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Instead Simmons will rest and undergo an examination by team doctors. Simmons, 23, is in his rookie year with a 2.91 ERA (128 ERA+) and 23 strikeouts in 26 appearances.

Simmons was drafted by Atlanta in 2012 (22nd round) and made his debut May 31, 2014. This year he also made 31 appearances in the minors, with a 2.25 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 24 innings. He is pre-arb and under team control through 2019.
