Braves Injury Update: Tommy La Stella expects to play after hamstring cramp

By on 8/12/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Atlanta Braves got some good news last night that Tommy La Stella's injury was minor. After leaving the game in the second inning attempting the field a ball hit by Carl Crawford, The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Michael Cunningham is reporting that La Stella felt cramping and is expected to be back in the lineup today.

Yesterday the added depth from the trade deadline was showcased when they moved newly acquired Emilio Bonifacio to second base and brought iN Ramiro Pena to play shortstop.  But it appears that this move will be only temporary.

Since his May debut, La Stella has been both a solid bat and steady glove in the field.  He was a career .322 hitter in the minor leagues and has continued to succeed since his promotion.  Currently he is batting .284 in 66 games with the Braves.  While he has shown little power, he has been a spark replacing the struggling Dan Uggla, hitting anywhere in the lineup.
