Browns Injury Update: Jason Pinkston battling blood clots

By on 8/04/2014 05:57:00 PM

The speculation is over. Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Jason Pinkston says blood clots will keep him from playing football this year and may force him to retire. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter Pinkston spent the last 2 weeks battling blood clots in his lungs. Schefter filed the report on Twitter and on his Facebook page.

Pinkston has been mysteriously absent from training camp, but today's news explained everything. He said on Twitter: "Thank you everyone for all the thoughts & prayers Cleveland It's been a honor to be apart of the city! The best fans in the world."

Pinkston was a 2011 fifth-round pick and started all 16 games as a rookie before the blood clots and other injuries limited him to nine games over the last two seasons

This is the second time Pinkston has battled blood clots and his career is now in jeopardy. "More than likely I'll have to retire," Pinkston texted this afternoon.

Schefter reports that Pinkston and the Browns reached a settlement. He will be released.

The Browns will play their preseason opener Saturday against the Detroit Lions.
