Coach Arians said that the surgery "went great." Obviously that's a good sign for the Cardinals, if you're looking towards next season and his long term health.
Coach Arians also stated that he wanted to keep Dockett around the team. It's well known that he presents some strong veteran leadership and presence in the locker room. So it appears that Dockett will be with the team throughout the year. He'll be on the sidelines to give advice and pointers to his teammates. Dockett can also spread his positive energy and focus.
Still, it's going to be very tough to fill the void that's on the field. The Cardinals picked up Tommy Kelly yesterday, who was recently cut by the New England Patriots. It looks like he still has enough in the tank to get the job done as a starting DT. He's coming off an acl injury so he may need his snap count watched, but overall, it's a serviceable replacement for Darnell Dockett.
Now, it's going to be extremely interesting to see what the Cardinals defense is made of, and if they can hang in the toughest division in football.
