By on 8/14/2014 10:30:00 AM

The St. Louis Cardinals stayed in the thick of the National League Central race with a 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night. Matt Carpenter went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Justin Masterson dominated, allowing no runs on three hits in seven innings or work. There was a bit of concern when left fielder Matt Holliday left the game with knee discomfort. He went 0-for-3 and was replaced by Peter Bourjos.

Derrick Goold, who covers the Cardinals for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, tweeted the following on Holliday's status.
Holliday, in his 11th Major League season, is batting .267 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI this season. The veteran has played for the Rockies, A's and Cardinals. Holliday has had two seasons with 30 or more home runs, five seasons with 100 or more RBI and eight seasons with a batting average of .300 or better. Holliday is a career .308 hitter with 263 home runs and 1,025 RBI.
