Cardinals Injury Update: Shane Robinson undergoes season-ending surgery

The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Chicago Cubs on Friday by the score of 7-2. The loss dropped the Cardinals to 71-62 on the season, a game and a half behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. On the injury front, reserve outfielder Shane Robinson had shoulder surgery on Thursday and will miss the rest of the season.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 27 that Robinson was placed on the 15-day DL with a left shoulder subluxation.. Robinson sustained the injury while trying to steal a base on Monday night.

An update on Robinson, as reported by Chris Towers of, is that Robinson underwent season-ending surgery on his shoulder on Thursday. Robinson should be completely healthy in time for the start of spring training next season.

Robinson was batting just .150 with four RBI in 60 at bats. He appeared in a career-high 102 games in 2012 and hit .253 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 166 at bats.  Robinson is a career .231 hitter with 5 home runs and 37 RBI.
