Cardinals Injury Update: Yadier Molina plays first rehab game

By on 8/28/2014 11:00:00 AM

The St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday by the score of 3-1. The loss dropped the Cardinals to 71-61 and tightened the race in the National League Central. Adam Wainright gave up, what proved to be the game-winning home run to Ike Davis in the second inning. The Cardinals continue to play without All-Star catcher Yadier Molina. The good news is that Molina played well in his first rehab game for the Springfield Cardinals.

As reported at the official website of the Springfield Cardinals, Molina caught six innings and went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in Springfield's 4-3 win.  Molina is expected to start again for Springfield tonight against Arkansas.

Molina, a six-time All Star and six-time Gold Glove Award winner, is in his 11th season with the Cardinals. He is batting .287 with seven home runs and 30 RBI this season. Molina has a career batting average of .284 with 96 home runs and 576 RBI.
