Manti Te’o’s regular season availability may once again be in question due to a foot injury he suffered during the San Diego Chargers 41-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, on Friday.
The second-year pro out of Notre Dame, missed three regular season games in 2013 with a sprained right foot he suffered during a preseason matchup. This time, it appears that the linebacker sprained his left ankle and will miss at least one preseason game.
When ask how long the injury would keep Te’o out, Chargers coach Mike McCoy said;
"When he's ready, he'll be back out there."
In the meantime Kavell Conner, in his fifth year out of Clemson, will be the next man up to play alongside middle linebacker DonaldButler.
After a stellar college career, Te’o was selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Chargers. Overall, he had a solid rookie campaign, tallying 61 tackles, and looked to build on the success after losing weight and building muscle this offseason.
Before leaving the game Friday, Te’o led the Chargers in tackles, with six, and looked very promising. The Chargers will hold out hope that their young star can get healthy before the start of their regular season.
