Chargers Injury Update: San Diego waives Vincent Brown

By on 8/31/2014 10:40:00 AM

The Sand Diego Chargers decided to part ways with wide receiver Vincent Brown yesterday. Brown has been battling a calf injury since July. He hasn't been on the field since that injury, therefore, he was waived.

According to Marc Sessler of, Brown was about a week away from being 100 percent healthy.

Brown was beat out by Keenan Allen, Malcom Floyd, Eddie Royal, Dontrelle Inman and Seyi Ajirotutu. It seems like they have a decent wide receiving core in San Diego, which also lead to his cut, so that doesn't mean he won't land somewhere else this season.

Vincent Brown's only 25, so there will be opportunities. He had 41 catches for 472 yards last year. Not a great haul but not bad.

A team like the Browns, Chiefs, Panthers or Vikings could come calling very shortly. There's no doubt that if he's healthy he could help an offense.

The major question will be is he really healthy. Because it's known that he lost a step last year, which might have contributed from a broken ankle the previous season. It's time for him to prove who and what he is.
