Chief's Injury Update: AJ Jenkins suffers concussion

By on 8/31/2014 10:26:00 PM

During Thursday’s lopsided loss to the Green Bay PackersKansas City Chiefs WR AJ Jenkins suffered a concussion forcing him to exit the game early.

According to Joel Thorman of SB Nation, AJ played quite well for Kansas City before leaving with the injury. At one point, QB Tyler Bray threw an absolute bullet 45 yards down the field to a diving Jenkins for the sweet grab.

Unfortunately, the preseason was supposed to be AJ’s chance to showcase his skills to the Chiefs’ organization and prove that he deserved to play for this team. That’s what makes the timing of this so frustrating. With the injury being a concussion you can be sure that doctors won't allow Jenkins back on the field until he is 100%. This could very well find Jenkins sitting on outside looking in come the start of the season. Deserved or not, that’s life in the NFL.

That being said, the Chiefs played horribly in the preseason. Finishing with a record of one and three, the team struggled from start to finish. I mean, the team’s only win came in a 41-39 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals; this being the only game the offense was able to muster more than 16 points. Nothing went right for this team. The preseason, if anything, showed that this is not the same team that made the playoffs last year.

Going forward the Chiefs are scheduled to meet up with the Tennessee Titans for the season opener a week this Sunday.
