Chiefs Injury Update: Sanders Commings out for the year

By on 8/26/2014 12:01:00 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that safety Sanders Commings has been put on injured reserved.

Ben Nielsen with Arrowhead Addict reports that it is believed to be the season-ending list and he will not be able to return this season.

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Commings is getting the IR tag, as he had a broken fibula that required surgery just a few weeks ago. This is the second straight year that Commings will miss significant time for the Chiefs, as his was out for most of his rookie season last year due to a broken collarbone..

The former fifth round draft pick for Kansas City was hopped to play a bigger part in the secondary this year, but in turn will add to the Chiefs injury problems.

With Eric Berry sitting out of the preseason so far, rookie safety Daniel Sorenson has seen more looks in the starting roll.

With depth being an issue at the safety position it will be interesting how Kansas City shapes the 53 man roster.
