Cubs Injury Update: Anthony Rizzo exits with lower back tightness

By on 8/26/2014 11:00:00 PM

During Tuesday's match-up against the Cincinnati Reds, Anthony Rizzo exited early with back tightness.
The Chicago Cubs are sure to be careful with Rizzo, who has become one of the league's top offensive first basemen this season, so don't expect him to be rushed back.

So far this season, Rizzo not only has a .279 batting average, but he also has 29 home runs and 70 RBIs.

In a year that many viewed as crucial for Rizzo, he has surely succeeded. Over the past few weeks, many of the Cubs' top prospects have been promoted with eyes toward the future. While others' futures with the organization are in question, Rizzo has firmly cemented himself in the Cubs lineup for years to come.  They may not be ready to compete yet, but with a centerpiece like Rizzo, the future is not as far away as it once looked.
