First baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who was out of the lineup on Wednesday should be back in the lineup tonight after dealing with back tightness. The two days of rest should be enough to help Gonzalez, who is second in the National League in RBIs, to recharge for the final push.
Third baseman Juan Uribe, who has been out since August 16th with a hamstring strain, is hoping to return when he is eligible on Sunday. Ken Gurnick reported that he ran the bases well in his simulated game Wednesday. He is a steady veteran, whose postseason experience should help the team as they eye October.
Finally, LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu is expected to return later this week. While a date has not been mentioned, it would make sense for his return to take place in September, when they would not have to make a roster move to accommodate his return. During his simulated game, he looked to be throwing 'free and easy', and with 'no pain.'
His return to the rotation would be a great relief as others have struggled in his absence. Through 53 career starts, he has a 3.12 ERA and a 27-14 record. His return to the third spot in the rotation makes the Dodgers staff one of the strongest in the league again.
