Dodgers Injury Update: Josh Beckett placed on DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered a weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers with a record of 66-50, first in the National League West. Although good offensively at 10th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, the Dodgers are lead by a pitching staff that is 5th in ERA at 3.31. But the Dodgers received a major blow when Josh Beckett was placed on the disabled list with a hip and groin injury. He may be lost for the season.

Our own Raymond Bureau reported on Thursday that Beckett, who last pitched on August 3 against the Chicago Cubs, has hip damage as was revealed in an MRI. He might be lost for the season.

Alanna Rizzo, host and reporter for the Dodgers official Twitter account, tweeted the following on Beckett.
Ken Gurnick, who covers the Dodgers for, also tweeted on another injury.
Beckett, in his 14th Major League season, is 6.6 with a 2.88 ERA this season. Injuries limited Beckett to an 0-5 record, with a 5.19 ERA in eight starts last season. The veteran has pitched for the Marlins, Red Sox and Dodgers and has a career record of 138-106 with a 3.88 ERA.
