Dodgers Injury Update: Juan Uribe placed on disabled list

By on 8/17/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered game two of a weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday with a record of 70-54, five games ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. The Dodgers have had to overcome numerous injuries this season, and have been hit again, as Juan Uribe has been placed on the DL with a hamstring injury.

Our own Darius Austin reported yesterday that Uribe left Friday night's game after six innings because his hamstring tightened up.  Manager Don Mattingly did not want to take any chances keeping Uribe in the game since it was the same hamstring Urbie injured earlier this season.

Rotoworld.com reported that the injury to Uribe was significant enough to warrant a stint in the 15-day disabled list.  That means Uribe will miss the rest of August and Justin Turner could see the majority of the playing time at third base in Uribe's absence. Carlos Triunfel has been called up to add additional depth in the infield.

Uribe, in his 14th Major League season, is batting .293 with six home runs and 35 RBI.  The veteran has played for the Rockies, White Sox, Giants and Dodgers and has a career batting average of .255 with 175 home runs and 729 RBI.
