Dolphins Injury Update: Knowshon Moreno could miss entire preseason

With training camp in full swing, and with less than a month left before the start of the regular season, position battles are beginning to be won and lost. For players like Knowshon Moreno, this is bad news, as there is still no timetable for his return.

Moreno was a key cog in the Denver Broncos 2013 Superbowl run. He rushed for over 1000 yards for the first time in his career, and provided stability with his blocking and receiving skills. It was also the 27-year-old’s first full season since his rookie campaign. Unfortunately, the tailback suffered significant wear to his knees over the course of his Broncos career.

Moreno signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, but has yet to join the team in training camp. He landed on the Physically Unable to Perform list after surgery to his left knee. The original prognosis was a five week rehab stint, however he is now entering his sixth week to no prevail.

“I feel good, but at the same time, I just want to be right, be real good, so when I go out there, I can just be full-speed and not have any setbacks,” said Moreno.

The Dolphins ranked 26th in rushing during the 2013 season with second-year pro, Lamar Miller, at the helm. However, after a strong offseason, Miller appears to have once again taken ahold of the starting job.

Head coach Joe Philbin says that he prefers a by-committee approach to the teams rushing attack. So even if Miller wins the job, Moreno is sure to get his time to shine.
