Dolphins Injury Update: Mike Pouncey could play before October

By on 8/29/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Miami Dolphins are going to be without Mike Pouncey to start the year. It's possible he could be placed on the PUP, and it's possible he could not be placed on the PUP. It all depends on how much progress he makes as we get closer to decision time.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins are 'encouraged' by the progress that Pouncey has made. The tricky part for the Dolphins is that if he's on the PUP, he won't be allowed to practice with the team.

It appears that it will be a pretty close call on Pouncey going on the PUP or not. Even if he doesn't go on, it would be a surprise to see him before week four.

The Miami Dolphins first six games are against the Patriots, Bills, Chiefs, Raiders, Packers and Bears. I can see a scenario or scenarios where they can get 3-3 or 4-2. I could also see them going 2-4. It all depends on which Dolphins team is showing up.

If Mike Pouncey were to miss the first six games and the Dolphins ended up 4-2, I would call that a very successful start to the season. It'll be a very intriguing test early in the season for the Dolphins.
