Dolphins Injury Update: Walt Aikens out indefinitely with hand injury

By on 8/21/2014 06:30:00 PM

The Miami Dolphins suffered a hit to their secondary this week when rookie safety Walt Aikens left practice with a hand injury.

The fourth round pick out of Liberty University had been having a strong offseason and looked to be a big part of the defense. Now, he faces an uncertain future with no timetable for his return.

With the injury, two Dolphins move up in the pecking order. Safeties Don Jones and Michael Thomas will fight for a second team position as Aikens recovers.

The start of the regular season is right around the corner and the depth chart will be set in stone during the next two weeks. Unfortunately for Aikens, this injury may cost him a backup position though he is likely to remain on the team.
